Pergolas, gazebos, and pavilions built for real Colorado shade and shelter.
Cedar, aluminum, and louvered-roof systems — designed in with your deck or as a standalone structure.
A great shade structure is the difference between using your deck four months a year and ten.

Shade changes how much you use the space.
The Colorado sun at altitude is intense. Without shade most decks become unusable from about 11am to 4pm in summer. A pergola, gazebo, or pavilion turns that window from punishing to perfect.
Shade also reduces composite-deck surface temperature by 20°F+ — your dog notices.

Open-top shade structures, cedar or aluminum.
A pergola is an open-roof structure — typically slatted beams overhead — that filters sunlight rather than blocking it completely. Cedar pergolas have a craftsman warmth; powder-coated aluminum has a modern clean look.
We build both, with options for fabric canopies, retractable shades, or climbing-vine systems.

Struxure, Sunesta, Equinox — open and close on command.
Adjustable-louver systems are the premium tier. The roof opens fully to sky, closes for rain, and angles in between to control sun. App and remote controlled.
They're a real investment — typically $25,000–$60,000 installed for a 14x16 — but they're the closest thing to a four-season outdoor room without going full enclosure.

Freestanding traditional shade structures.
A gazebo is a fully-roofed, often octagonal or rectangular, freestanding structure — typically with a shingle or metal roof and turned posts.
Best for traditional-style homes and for backyard 'destination' spots away from the deck.

Larger covered outdoor rooms.
A pavilion is bigger than a gazebo, usually rectangular, and often integrated with patios or outdoor kitchens. They're typically open-sided with a full pitched roof.
Pavilions work especially well as covers for outdoor kitchens, fire pit lounges, or pool seating.

Snow load and wind are not optional.
Pergolas and pavilions in Colorado need to be engineered for snow loads (especially anything with a solid roof) and wind. We handle stamped engineering in-house.
A pavilion that collapses in February is not a savings.

Built into the deck framing from day one.
When we design a pergola or cover into a new deck, the posts land on doubled joists or new structural posts that extend down to footings — never just bolted to deck surface. The result is a structure that won't loosen over time.
Retrofitting onto an existing deck almost always requires reinforcement framing.

Lighting, fans, heaters, drop screens.
A real outdoor room has lighting, ceiling fans for summer, infrared heaters for shoulder season, and motorized drop screens for wind and bug control.
We pre-wire all of it during framing.

What shade structures cost.
Cedar pergola (12x16): $8,000–$18,000 installed. Aluminum pergola: $12,000–$25,000. Louvered roof system: $25,000–$60,000. Full pavilion with shingled roof: $25,000–$80,000+.
Engineering, footings, and permits are included in our quotes.

Answers before you ask.
Don't see your question? Call us or schedule a free site visit and we'll walk through it on your deck.
Do I need a permit for a pergola?
Yes in most Front Range jurisdictions, especially anything over 120 sq ft or attached to a structure.
Will a pergola actually provide shade?
A well-spaced slatted pergola can block 50–70% of sun. Add a canopy or louvered system for full shade on demand.
Can you attach to my house?
Yes — and often cleaner to do so. We flash and ledger it like a deck.
Often built together.
