Outdoor Living

Low-voltage LED lighting that turns the yard into another room after sunset.

Path, stair, post-cap, rail, garden, and architectural lighting — designed and installed in-house.

Outdoor lighting is the single most underused upgrade in Colorado. It doubles how much of the year you actually use your yard.

It's the difference between a yard that ends at sunset and one that doesn't.
Why lighting

It's the difference between a yard that ends at sunset and one that doesn't.

Colorado has long summer evenings, but sunsets still come — and once they do, an unlit yard is empty. Proper outdoor lighting extends usable hours dramatically and changes how the whole house feels from the inside.

Most clients tell us lighting was the upgrade they should have done years earlier.

12V LED is the standard. Here's why.
Low-voltage LED

12V LED is the standard. Here's why.

Modern low-voltage LED lighting runs cool, draws almost no power (a complete yard system often runs under 200 watts), and uses fixtures that last 25,000+ hours.

12V is safe to handle, doesn't require licensed electrical for most runs, and integrates beautifully with smart-home systems.

Stair, rail, and post-cap — wired in clean.
Deck lighting

Stair, rail, and post-cap — wired in clean.

On our deck builds we wire lighting during framing — riser lights for stairs, recessed LEDs in the underside of the top rail, and low-glow post-caps. Zero visible cable.

Effect: stairs and rails glow at night without floodlight harshness.

Soft path light, never airport runway.
Path & step lighting

Soft path light, never airport runway.

Most retail path-light kits look terrible — too bright, too cool-color, too evenly spaced. We design with directional fixtures, warm color temperature (2700K), and placement that lights the surface without blinding you.

Done right, path lighting is barely-noticed as lighting and very-noticed as effect.

Wash walls, frame trees, define the home.
Architectural & uplighting

Wash walls, frame trees, define the home.

Carefully placed uplights on stone walls, the chimney, mature trees, and architectural details make the house look like the way you want to remember it.

We do moonlighting (lights placed high in trees casting natural shadow patterns), wall wash, and accent uplighting.

Lights set into walls, columns, and pavers.
Hardscape integration

Lights set into walls, columns, and pavers.

Recessed hardscape LEDs (Kichler, FX Luminaire, Volt) install directly into block walls, column caps, and paver fields. The fixtures disappear; the light remains.

We design these in during hardscape construction.

Smart control

App, voice, timer, dusk-to-dawn.

Modern transformers (FX Luminaire ZD, Kichler PRO LED) integrate with Lutron, Control4, and standalone apps. Schedule scenes, dim, color-shift, and tie into security or smart-home triggers.

Or just have everything on at dusk and off at midnight — your call.

Brass and copper fixtures, not plastic.
Quality matters

Brass and copper fixtures, not plastic.

We install brass, copper, or marine-grade aluminum fixtures from FX Luminaire, Kichler PRO, and Volt. These last 25+ years outdoors.

Plastic fixtures from the big-box store last 3–5 years before they crack from Colorado UV and freeze-thaw.

What outdoor lighting costs.
Investment

What outdoor lighting costs.

Basic 8–12 fixture package: $2,500–$5,000. Comprehensive house and landscape design: $6,000–$15,000. High-end custom system with smart control: $15,000–$40,000+.

Lighting added during deck construction is significantly cheaper than retrofitting — wiring is the bulk of the labor.

Common questions

Answers before you ask.

Don't see your question? Call us or schedule a free site visit and we'll walk through it on your deck.

Can you add lighting to my existing deck?

Yes, though it's neater on new builds. We can usually hide most runs on retrofits.

How much power does it use?

Even a comprehensive system typically runs under 300 watts — pennies per night.

Do I need an electrician?

We handle 12V LED in-house. A licensed electrician installs the transformer if needed.

Two ways to get started

Ready to make your deck safe again?

No pressure. No upsell BS. Just an honest look at your deck and what — if anything — it needs.
